August 11 - Report Tips to Employer

Employees who earn tips are reminded of the necessity to report any tips over $20 received in July to their employer by August 11, using IRS Form 4070. Your employer needs to calculate FICA taxes and income tax withholding on these tips. If your regular wages are not sufficient to cover this withholding, the uncollected amount will be noted in box 8 of your W-2 form. You'll be responsible for paying this when filing your yearly tax return.

Weekends & Holidays:

It’s important to note that if a tax deadline falls on a weekend or federal holiday, it is automatically extended to the next business day.

Disaster Area Extensions:

For those in areas designated as disaster zones, tax due dates are extended accordingly. It's essential to check both FEMA and the IRS websites to verify if your area is classified as a disaster area and to see the adjusted filing deadlines.
